I would like to take the opportunity to remind families about ways to ensure that children's food is kept fresh and safe while at kindy. Please read through the following points which are drawn from C&K's Food and Beverage procedure:
-Morning Tea items at kindy are not refrigerated. Please ensure that any meat, dairy or cooked food items are kept cold using an insulated bag with an ice brick. Alternatively, you might provide morning tea foods that do not need to be temperature controlled. -If you bring your child's lunch to kindy in an insulated lunchbag, please remember to remove the insulated bag before putting your child's lunch into the fridge. Cold air from the fridge cannot penetrate insulated bags and therefore food inside insulated bags is at risk of perishing. -Ensure that your child's food containers are clearly named. It is sometimes helpful to add some stickers or other symbols to your child's lunch box so that they can easily identify theirs. If you need any more information, or would like a copy of the C&K Food and Beverage Procedure, please feel free to email Marie at mwhite@aspleyeastkindy.com.au As we head towards the cooler months, many think that it’s ok to relax their Sun Smart habits and spend time outdoors without sun protections. For those of us lucky enough to live in sunny Queensland, this is not the case! Sun protection is required when UV levels are 3 and above, and this is all year round in Queensland. So don’t be fooled by the cooler weather, protect the children in your care this winter by:
· Slip on protective clothing · Slop on SPF30 or above broad-spectrum, water-resistant sunscreen · Slap on a broad-brimmed hat · Seek shade · Slide on wrap-around sunglasses You can check the UV levels easily and on the go by downloading the Sun Smart App. It is very helpful and greatly appreciated if you can please apply sunscreen to your child each morning at drop off time (or at home) so that those who are playing outside first are ready to go out immediately. In the month of June we are holding a fundraiser at the kindy. The fundraiser is called 'The Great Coin Challenge'. Please follow the link for more information.
Big thanks to the kindy Fundraising Committee for organising this, it should be fun! Keep your eyes peeled for the coin collection jars which will be placed at the kindy sign in desk this week. 29 June 2016QUT Health Clinics will conduct free health checks for children at QUT's Caboolture campus on June 29 during the school holidays.

These books have been purchased with funds raised at the Bunnings BBQ back in April this year. The parent and children's borrowing library will close this week in preparation for the holidays. These new titles will be available for borrowing after the June/July break. |
