The kindy sweet stall was held at the Aspley Hypermarket on Saturday 19th March. The sweet stall was organised and run by a past parent of the kindy Jo Willmott. On the day the stall was run by Jo along with a number of other past parents of the kindy. Thanks to the efforts of Jo and those families who donated sweets, the stall raised a total of $608.
This money will go towards the running costs of the Family Fun Day for the kindy's 50th birthday which will be on Saturday 14th May 2016. We are so very appreciative of families whose continuing support has helped the kindy reach this 50 year milestone and hopefully many more in the future. The next fundraiser for the kindy will be the sausage sizzle at Bunnings on Saturday 26th March. There are still a few spots that need to be filled in order to have enough people to cook and serve sausages. If you are in town over this weekend and you have not already helped out, please consider signing up for one of these spots. There is a roster at the sign in desk at the kindy. International Women's Day is a day to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievement of women.
On this International Women's Day I would like to take the opportunity to recognise the contributions of the many hundreds of women who have made Aspley East Kindergarten what it is today. In 2016 Aspley East Kindy celebrates 50 years of providing education and care to children in this community. I would like to make special acknowledgement of the dedication of many women whose leadership has kept Aspley East Kindergarten going strong for 50 years. Are you able to help out for a few hours on Saturday 26th March for the Kindergarten's Bunnings BBQ fundraiser?
We have been lucky enough to draw a spot at Bunnings for a BBQ on their busiest trading day of the year! The kindergarten needs to confirm the spot with Bunnings ASAP but cannot do so until we have secured support from kindergarten families by taking a shift to run the BBQ. There is a sign up at the front gate of the kindergarten which we need to fill before we can confirm the spot with Bunnings. Unfortunately if we cannot fill the spots we will need to decline the space and cancel the fundraiser as the BBQ cannot run without minimum numbers of helpers. Casey Woods (Vice-President of the Parent Management Committee) has kindly offered to organise the fundraiser and has already dedicated resources and time in which to get things going, but she cannot do this alone so please consider donating a small portion of your time on this day to help the kindergarten raise vital funds. The funds raised will go towards purchasing resources for the children and classrooms. See here for a flyer regarding the Triple P Parenting course which is being offered over the next few months in Brisbane at a discounted price. The courses are being offered for $120 pp, or $200 for two people (normally $400 pp), and there are a number of free spaces available this Saturday for who might not be able to participate on a financial basis. Please contact Kristina KCampbell@accoras.com.au if you would like more information about available course places. These courses are being delivered in a one-day format on Saturdays, to make it as easy as possible for parents to attend, learn strategies and tips to deal with their children’s behaviour, focus on building positive relationships within their family and have the opportunity to talk with other parents about their experience!
