National Sorry Day

Today is NATIONAL SORRY DAY

In 2015 we are still a long way from closing the gap between Indigenous and Non-Indigenous people in this country.

FACTS

Indigenous Australians have:

35% of their children missing out on Kindy, 23% are missing out in Queensland
a higher risk of developing diabetes, heart disease and kidney disease
a risk of still suffering blinding trachoma – we are the only developed country in the world where this is the case
18 times higher rate of being incarcerated than other Australians
a shorter life expectancy – 10 years lower than non-Indigenous people

Please take a moment today to mark National Sorry Day – a day to express regret for the historical wrongs against Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
