A kindergarten program is 15 hours per week for 40 weeks a calendar year. Kindergarten follows the school terms, so there are four terms of kindergarten per year. We are closed on Weekends, Public Holidays and School Holidays.
How many children in a group? There is a maximum of 22 children in each kindergarten room, with one University qualified teacher and one early childhood qualified assistant, plus additional educators when required.
Do you provide meals? At Aspley East Kindy, children bring their own food each day - it's a great way to help them get used to lunchboxes ahead of school, plus it gives parents a chance to practise packing lunches!
What does my child need to bring to Kindy? To help your child feel comfortable and ready for the day, you'll pack the following essentials:
A balanced lunchbox with enough food for 2 breaks

If your child is enrolled in childcare and accessing a government-approved kindergarten program at that childcare centre, you will receive FREE kindy only at our kindergarten and not at the childcare centre.

How is the kindy funded? We are a not-for-profit association partially funded by Queensland Kindergarten Funding. The rest of the running costs are made up of fees payable by families and fundraising activities. We have been a Community Kindergarten since 1966 and are very well resourced thanks to the hard work and dedication of families and staff over the years.
Who runs the Kindy? The centre is an Affiliate of C&K Childcare and Kindergarten, however we are run independently by the Management Committee (which is made up of volunteer parents) and the Kindergarten Director.
How do I enrol? Complete the Waiting List Form located on this website. Your child’s name must be on the Waiting List to be considered for a place at our Centre. Enrolment offers are made in September of the year before your child is due to attend Kindy.

Is there a uniform? No, children are free to wear any suitable clothing, however we do have AEK tshirts, hats and sheets available for purchase if desired.
